With thousands of brands and types of sheets out there, it can be daunting to find the right sheets for you. Like a good t-shirt, it’s hard to know that you’ve found the perfect comfort and fit until you try it out. So, before you begin shopping, it’s important to identify what matters most when it comes to high-quality sheets.
How Much Does Sheet Fit Matter?
There’s nothing worse than waking up night after night fighting with your partner for the sheets, finding your fitted sheet has slipped off your mattress, and discovering your pillow is out of the pillowcase. Not only is this annoying and creates even more of a chore out of making your bed, but these issues can also interrupt important sleep cycles.
In a recent study from Women’s Choice Award, they found that out of the women surveyed, nearly 75% claimed that their sheets slip off once a week or more. Of these same women surveyed, 37% said that fit was the top feature they look for when buying new sheets.
Purecare has created solutions to combat all of the common sheet fit issues. Our fitted sheets come with a thick, 1" elastic band on the bottom to keep the sheet in place. They also have cinched Precision-Fit® corners that can fit all types and heights of mattresses. To help you and your partner stop fighting over the sheets, we’ve added an additional 4" of width on our flat sheets. And to keep your pillows in place, our pillowcases have a deep-pocket, enveloping design that prevents them from falling out.
What Tread Count Should I Buy?
You may have grown up hearing that thread count is the most important thing to look for when shopping for sheets. But what if we told you that was a myth?
Thread count is simply the unit of measurement that identifies the number of treads in a square inch of fabric. When we see sheet sets today that include extremely high thread counts, some close to 1,000, it should be a red flag that those fabrics are most likely inflated with lower-quality materials or inaccurately represent the number of threads in the fabric.
Instead of looking at thread count, it’s more important to look for high-quality materials and fibers used in your sheets. When premium fibers are used, the soft comfort and durability you’re looking for will come naturally—without overinflating the thread count. Which Sheet Fabric Is Best for Me?
When it comes to finding the right fabric for your sheets, it’s important to consider your personal sleep needs. Do you sleep hot or cold? What type of feel do you prefer: textured or silky-smooth? Do you have sensitive skin? Would you prefer a crisp look or a relaxed finish? Each fabric type and the way it is woven and finished can offer a unique set of benefits that create ideal comfort for every sleeper. Explore our list of common sheet fabrics below to find which one fits your needs:
Cotton Sheets
Cotton is one of the most common types of fabric and is used in a wide range of our day-to-day products. Cotton is durable, breathable, easy to care for, moisture-wicking, and eco-friendly, making it the perfect fabric for bedding. It’s also extremely versatile, providing a wide range of textures and finishes depending on the weave of the cotton.
For example, two different Purecare cotton sheets are our Weightless Cotton Sheets and our Garment Washed Percale Sheets. The Weightless Cotton Sheets are made with a special type of cotton called Micro Cotton®. Micro Cotton® is made from expertly picked, extremely fine long-staple cotton from India and woven in a sateen weave. This creates a super-soft, weightless feel that’s extremely lightweight and airy.
Our Garment Washed Percale Sheets, on the other hand, are also made with 100% long-staple cotton, but these sheets are spun in a percale weave instead of sateen. A percale weave offers a crisper feel, matte finish, and high breathability. These sheets are lightly textured and garment washed for a relaxed, lived-in feel. The cotton in our Garment Washed Percale sheets is also Fairtrade certified, coming from high-quality cotton grown and harvested in Portugal.
Not only is cotton versatile on its own, but it can also be blended with other types of fibers to offer additional softness and durability.
Bamboo Rayon Sheets
Another common type of fiber for bedding is bamboo. Bamboo rayon is what’s known as a semi-synthetic fabric, made from natural bamboo fibers that are treated with non-toxic chemicals. Bamboo rayon fabric is known for being soft, breathable, and durable.
Our Purecare Bamboo Rayon Sheets offer a luxuriously soft feel that’s gentle on skin. These sheets are cozy without being too warm, with a thick, medium weight that is breathable and moisture-wicking.

TENCEL™ Lyocell Sheets
Like Bamboo, Lyocell is also a semi-synthetic fabric. It’s made using the wood pulp of trees, most often the eucalyptus tree. This pulp is then processed with non-toxic, organic solvents before being turned into yarn. TENCEL™ Lyocell is sustainably harvested and biodegradable.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fabric is becoming a top pick for bedding due to its silky-smooth, cool-touch feel that’s great for sensitive skin. It’s light and airy and has moisture-wicking properties that keep you cool and dry all night long.
Purecare’s Refreshing Sheets are made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell for soft, cool comfort. To take an even deeper dive into what TENCEL™ Lyocell is, explore our blog post, “What is Lyocell?”
TENCEL™ Modal Sheets
Much like TENCEL™ Lyocell, TENCEL™ Modal is a pulp-based semi-synthetic fiber. Modal comes from the cellulose fibers of beech trees, and like Lyocell, is sustainable and biodegradable.
Modal has a luxuriously soft feel that’s buttery-smooth and especially gentle on skin. It’s stretchy, breathable, durable, and wrinkle-resistant. When comparing TENCEL™ Modal to TENCEL™ Lyocell, Modal is slightly warmer and has more of a matte finish than Lyocell.
Our Soft Touch Sheets are made from a luxurious blend of TENCEL™ Modal and long-staple cotton for irresistibly soft, long-lasting comfort. Learn more about TENCEL™ Modal on our blog post, “Modal Fabric 101”.
CELLIANT® Sheets
For those who are active or find themselves going to bed with sore muscles, Recovery CELLIANT® Viscose Sheets are a great pick. CELLIANT® is an FDA-approved proprietary blend of naturally occurring minerals that can be embedded into fibers. These infrared fibers work by channeling the energy our bodies would typically emit while we sleep and turning it into energy that goes back into the body. This increases blood flow and oxygen to your muscles, joints, and bones while you sleep to allow you to wake up feeling recovered and rejuvenated.
Our Recovery CELLIANT® Viscose Sheets not only harness the power of CELLIANT® fibers, but they are also made with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers for that silky-smooth, refreshing touch. Read our blog post, “CELLIANT® Viscose: Infusing Purecare with Earth-Friendly Infrared Wellness,” to learn more about what these responsive sheets can do for you.
Linen Sheets
Linen has been used for thousands of years and is a highly renewable resource due to the fast-growing nature of the flax plant. Linen is one of the strongest natural fibers and is known for being extremely durable. While linen sheets start crisper and stiffer than typical cotton sheets, they soften over time, becoming even more comfortable without wearing down.
Our Blended Linen Sheets combine the best of both linen and cotton for a soft & durable, breathable & cozy balance. They have a relaxed, lightly textured feel that gets softer with each wash. Plus, they’re treated with HeiQ Mint, a plant-based mint oil treatment designed to keep bedding fresh by absorbing and neutralizing odors.
Hemp Sheets
Hemp is best known for being one of the most sustainable, eco-friendly fibers. The hemp plant can be grown in virtually any climate, uses less water, provides high yields, absorbs more carbon, and returns a large amount of nutrients back into the earth. Not only is this plant extremely sustainable, it’s also very versatile, now used in a variety of everyday household items.
You may be asking, isn’t hemp scratchy? Why would I use hemp bedding? The idea that hemp textiles are scratchy comes from the use of traditional hemp fibers. These fibers were harvested directly from the stalk, which makes the fabric feel woody, rough, and, yes, scratchy. However, today, hemp is processed in a different way that removes the lignin from the stalk to create a softer, more skin-friendly feel.
Our Relaxed Hemp Sheets have a hand feel that is similar to cotton, and they get softer each time you wash them. They are extremely durable and naturally thermoregulating, perfect for year-round comfort.
Microfiber Sheets
If you’re looking for a more price-friendly option that still offers a luxurious feel, try our Luxury Microfiber Sheet Set. Unlike many of the other fabrics listed above, microfiber is a man-made synthetic fabric. It’s extremely versatile and can be produced with various blends of fibers to create a soft, durable material. Our Microfiber sheets are made from ultra-fine fibers woven in a twill weave for a soft, breathable, wrinkle-resistant finish.
