Take Some Time For Yourself

Dive into some much-needed (and well deserved) self-care after the holiday season. Unplugging from work and social media can be a great way to give yourself a break and recharge your batteries. To help clear your mind, spend some time focusing on relaxing activities like reading a chapter or two from a book, restorative yoga, or taking a nap.

Get Outside

Getting outside is one of the best ways to beat burnout. Fresh air and exercise can boost your energy levels, lift your mood, and help improve focus. Plan activities that get you out in nature such as hiking, skiing, or even biking if the weather in your area permits. Even if it’s just taking a walk around the block or taking a few moments to enjoy the scenery in your backyard, getting outside is one of the best, easiest ways to boost your mood and improve your mental well-being.

Confide in Your Inner Circle

Talking about how you feel with friends or family is an important step in overcoming post-holiday burnout. Talking about it will help put things into perspective and provide clarity on what may be causing the feelings of exhaustion or overwhelm that we often experience at this time of year.

Not big on conversation? Try journaling instead. Oftentimes, writing your thoughts down on paper can be just as cathartic.

Practice Mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness is an effective way to reduce stress levels while also improving concentration and focus. Your practice could include meditating, journaling, or engaging in guided meditation sessions which are available online or through apps like Headspace and Calm.

Deep breathing exercises are also helpful in reducing anxiety levels and calming the mind so you can gain clarity and alleviate any other symptoms of burnout you may be experiencing.

Set Boundaries

Setting boundaries with yourself as well as with others is key when trying to beat burnout. This means taking action like setting aside specific times throughout the day where you will not check emails, social media, or accept phone calls or respond to text messages, so you can instead take time for yourself.
