We’ve had such a long and wonderful relationship with Hologenix, the company behind CELLIANT, because we care about the same things: wellness and constantly innovating to improve wellness for people and the world.
That’s also why we have now infused CELLIANT Viscose into our Recovery Viscose collection of sheets, pillows and protectors. CELLIANT Viscose is everything we, and our customers, love about CELLIANT infrared (more on that later) put into a fiber that’s certified by FSC® or PEFC™, guaranteeing the origin of the raw materials comes from sustainably managed sources.
Another reason we love CELLIANT infrared technology is that they support their claims. To date, they’ve conducted 10 peer-reviewed published studies (including a pilot sleep study) that collectively demonstrate the efficacy of CELLIANT as well as the benefits of infrared. And that’s important to us at Purecare. We value our customers’ trust above all, so transparency on all claims, whether they’re claims about wellness or sustainability, is critical for us.
Now that you know a bit more about our history with and the importance of CELLIANT, let's dive a little deeper into how CELLIANT infrared technology and their viscose fibers actually work.
What is CELLIANT?
CELLIANT is a proprietary blend of naturally occurring minerals embedded into our products’ fibers. CELLIANT works by capturing your escaping body heat, converting it into infrared light, and reflecting the infrared energy back into the body. This full spectrum infrared light provides a number of wellness benefits including:
- Increased local circulation
- Improved cellular oxygenation
- Thermoregulation (helps keep you cool when you’re hot and warm when you’re cold)
- More restful sleep
- Faster recovery from physical activity
CELLIANT is an extremely versatile technology. It's the perfect plus side for our bedding, infusing our sheet sets, mattress protectors, and pillow protectors. Because of its recovery benefits, CELLIANT is also featured in leisurewear and loungewear from premium brands around the world.
How is CELLIANT Made?
The scientists at Hologenix, the inventors of CELLIANT, created a proprietary blend of minerals. The minerals were chosen for their unique properties, such as energy absorption and reflection. Then, through a specialized, multi-step process, the minerals are ground and milled into a powder as fine as 1 micron to create the CELLIANT formula, which is manufactured in the USA.
The CELLIANT formula is then woven into the core of fibers. For CELLIANT Viscose, the formula is infused into sustainable viscose fibers.
Since these minerals are ground so finely and can be woven into the core of fibers, CELLIANT is durable and will not wash out of products. It’s as if CELLIANT has become part of the fiber.
What is CELLIANT Viscose?
CELLIANT Viscose is CELLIANT, with all of its infrared wellness benefits, infused in a sustainable viscose fiber. CELLIANT Viscose blends beautifully with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, which is the blend we use for the Recovery Viscose Sheet collection here at Purecare.
CELLIANT Viscose is certified by FSC® or PEFC™, which guarantees the origin of the raw materials is in sustainably managed sources. CELLIANT Viscose is created in partnership with Kelheim Fibres, the world leader in specialized sustainable viscose. Kelheim Fibres are world-renowned for their sustainability efforts. They’ve been awarded a dark green/green shirt in Canopy’s 2021 Hot Button Report, which not only stands for responsible raw material sourcing but also is an overall sustainability indicator for viscose fiber producers.
Kelheim Fibres were also the first viscose fiber manufacturer in the world to be validated to EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme) which helps evaluate, report, and improve their environmental performance. Their natural viscose is biodegradable--able to decompose naturally.
Why Does CELLIANT infared light energy lead to better sleep?
CELLIANT infrared technology is a great fit for sleep products. It’s often used in mattresses, and we love it in our sheets, pillows and protectors for two main reasons.
The first reason is thermoregulation. Thermoregulation refers to the body’s ability to maintain the proper body temperature. And body temperature is essential for establishing and maintaining healthy sleep patterns.
How does CELLIANT help with thermoregulation? Circulation plays a crucial role in thermoregulation, and infrared light increases local circulation when near the skin. When circulation and blood flow is increased, that means there is more oxygen available to the cells—an average increase of 7% in our TcPO2 clinical trials.* This increase supports your body’s ability to thermoregulate, helping you maintain the right body temperature to promote better sleep quality.
The second reason CELLIANT is a great fit for sleep products is because infrared light helps the body recover faster from physical activity.
